Composite Fillings

A composite filling is a tooth coloured material used to treat affected teeth. A filling can repair teeth that are cracked, broken or cracked, decayed, worn, or used to close space between two teeth. They can be closely matched to the colour of your existing teeth and last for many years.

How are composite fillings performed?

Composite fillings will typically take one appointment. After numbing, decay is removed and your tooth is thoroughly cleaned and prepared. In the event that the decay was close to the tooth’s nerve, a special medication will be applied for added protection. The filling is then placed, shaped, and polished to restore the tooth’s original shape and function.

You may experience hot and cold sensitivity after your new filling, however, this will subside shortly. You will be given proper care instructions after your appointment. Like your natural teeth, regular oral hygiene and maintenance are required. Book your appointment with Coast Dental Centre today.
